Wedding photographer for Romanian-Americans

For Romanian-Americans

I'm your photographer if you're Romanian-American coming home to marry.

For ten years I've been the bridge between Romanian families and American partners — at weddings I've shot in New York, Boston, Rhode Island, San Francisco, and back home in Romania. I understand both worlds because I've lived in them, alongside our couples.

We've photographed in: New York Boston San Francisco Rhode Island Cluj-Napoca Bucharest Brașov Sibiu Bucovina Maramureș Apuseni

What you've been wondering

Three questions you've asked yourself
in the last three sleepless nights.

"Do you speak English fluently — not just well enough for emails?"

Yes. I can hold a real conversation, walk through the day, explain an Orthodox ritual to your American partner who has never seen a wedding crown before. Your partner won't be lost on the day.

"Will the photos look like Pinterest, or like a traditional Romanian wedding?"

Both, in the same gallery. The grandparents will have their classic, posed shots. Your American friends will have editorial candid moments. Neither side will feel they got someone else's wedding.

"How do we plan from 8000 km away when I haven't even seen the venue in two years?"

We hop on Zoom, walk the location frame by frame, send you mood boards, day-of scenarios, bilingual contracts. By the wedding day we already know each other — no surprises.

“8000 km isn't a distance. It's a different kind of planning — and that's exactly where we come in.”

Andra & Marius Dragan

Two worlds · One photographer

We've photographed Americans in America.
And Americans in Romania.

This combination isn't taught. It comes from years of watching how a wedding moves in Brooklyn just as carefully as how an Orthodox ceremony unfolds in Cluj. Now, when we help you build your day, we know where everyone's eyes will land — because we've already been there.

American weddings we've photographed

We don't read about American culture on Pinterest.
We've actually photographed in the States.

Newport, New York, Boston, Rhode Island, San Francisco — weddings with different coordinates but the same denominator: we know how American weddings work from the inside. What matters to American parents at rehearsal dinner. How a 100-person cocktail hour really flows. The difference between a friend-officiant and a certified one. Why American vows are read, not memorized. That's not learned from articles — it's learned by photographing them, year after year. Plus the dozens of American couples we've photographed at weddings all over the world — from the Caribbean to Europe. Click any wedding to see the full story (captions in Romanian; English summary at the top of each gallery).

I opened the link with the photos and felt my eyes fill with tears of joy. A day so special to us, seen through Andra's eyes — she gathered together the smiles, the embraces, all the love from our hearts. The whole family was moved to tears.

You know that moment when you want to relive a memory, when you want to feel the emotions of the day once more, but what you see on your phone — photos and short clips — doesn't bring it back? Well, with Andra and Marius you can actually relive those moments.

I've already been to three events where Andra was the photographer, and every time she impressed me with her professionalism, patience, and positive energy. She always captures the emotion and joy of the moment. The photos are beautiful, full of naturalness and soul.

How we work from 8000 km

Five calm steps.
Nothing left to chance.

1

Discovery call

30-45 minutes on Zoom, with both of us. We get to know you, understand your day, answer questions without rushing. By the end you have: a personalized offer, a short list of recommended vendors, clarity on whether we move forward together. Free, no obligation.

2

We stay close

From discovery call to wedding day, we're a message away. Questions that come up, new decisions, plan changes — you get answers the same day. We build rapport so on the wedding day we aren't two strangers with cameras.

3

Pre-wedding Zoom

One week before, we hop on a Zoom for the final details. Day timeline, special moments you want captured, emergency contacts, plan B for bad weather. You already know the day, we already know what matters.

4

Bilingual contract

In Romanian and English, signed remotely (DocuSign). Aligned with both legal systems — copyright, print options, digital delivery, and payment terms clearly defined. Payment in two SWIFT installments, never cash or Venmo.

5

Wedding day

We speak Romanian with your family, English with your American friends, Spanish if needed. We coordinate with the wedding planner, hold the timeline in hand, anticipate key moments. By default one of us shoots; for full-day double coverage (Andra + Marius), it's an optional package upgrade.

“We don't want to leave you alone in this process. That's everything we promise.”

Andra & Marius Dragan

More than photos.
Our network, at your disposal.

We've been working for years with wedding planners, videographers, live bands, DJs, florists & decorators, makeup artists, pastry chefs, masters of ceremony, venues — people we've seen at work, people we trust. At discovery call, if you want, we recommend the team that fits your day — no commission on our end, just people we've watched in action.

What happens at discovery call

30 minutes on Zoom.
No sales pitch.

Many diaspora couples hesitate to book a call with someone they've never met. Here's exactly how it goes — so you come prepared, no surprises.

01

How the 30 minutes flow

  • 5 min: getting to know you — how you met, how the Romania wedding idea came up
  • 10 min: you talk — what you imagine for the day, what matters most
  • 10 min: we answer — specific questions, portfolio examples, recommendations
  • 5 min: next steps, no pressure
02

What to have ready

  • Target date (even approximate, e.g., "summer season" or "in a year")
  • Romania location (or cities you're considering)
  • Rough budget (helps us recommend the right package)
  • Questions you have — however small
03

What you get at the end

  • Personalized offer within 48 hours
  • Short list of recommended vendors (planner, florist, band)
  • Clarity on whether we move forward together or not
  • Zero pressure — calm response, however long it takes you to decide

Not ready for a call yet?

Leave us your email — we'll open the guide instantly, and email you a copy to keep. 50-point checklist, bilingual vendor questions (RO/EN), official documents table, and an English welcome card you can share with your American partner and guests. Free, no obligation.

Note: the guide is written in Romanian (for the bride/groom from the diaspora), with bilingual sections designed to be shared with your non-Romanian-speaking partner.

Frequently asked questions

You're probably wondering
this too.

Do you speak fluent English on the wedding day?

Yes. We can lead a ceremony, propose a toast, explain a ritual — without pauses, without rounded translations. The American partners of our couples have always felt at home.

How long do you stay at the wedding? Do you cover everything from prep to the end?

We stay as long as the story requires. For an intimate ceremony with a smaller party, it can be a few hours. For a traditional Romanian wedding — the full day, from prep to the last frames at the party, sometimes until morning. What matters is complete documentation, no missing frames from the moments that count. At discovery call we'll figure out together what works for your day.

Can we request a pre-wedding couple session in Romania?

Yes. Many Romanian-American couples come a few days early and do a couple session — in Cluj, Bucharest, Brașov, Sibiu, Maramureș, Bucovina. We pick the location together over Zoom beforehand.

How do we receive the photos? And how long until they're ready?

Private online gallery with download rights, 6-8 weeks after the wedding. All edited photos, high resolution, accessible to you and your family anytime. Optional printed album (physical, shipped to the US).

What does it cost?

Packages start at $3,500 and are built personally based on duration, pre/post wedding sessions, premium delivery. We discuss the right package for your day at discovery call. Payment in RON at BNR exchange rate (typically in your favor), bilingual contract RO/EN — transparent in both languages.

Do you tip vendors in Romania?

Tipping isn't standard for wedding vendors in Romania, unlike in the US. If you'd like to make a gesture for someone you've felt a special connection with, something symbolic is more than enough. Expectations are different — nobody's calculating percentages off the invoice.

Can we have a backup in case something happens?

Yes. We work as a two-person team (Andra and Marius). We both have backup equipment on the wedding day. Photos are backed up to the cloud in real time. Plus we have a network of trusted photographers who can step in for extreme cases (we've never needed to — but the plan exists).

Can we talk to a Romanian-American couple who worked with you?

Absolutely. At discovery call, we put you in touch with 1-2 diaspora couples who would gladly exchange a short message via email or WhatsApp. The most honest reference is a direct conversation.
